| My logic did not fit his logicThe big problem wasthat my logic was my rich dad's logic
Job security meant everything to my educated dadLearning meant everything to my rich dad
Educated dad thought I went to school to learn to be a ship's officerRich dad knew that I went to school to study international tradeSo as a student, I made cargo runs, navigating large freighters, oil tankers and passenger ships to the Far East and the South PacificRich dad emphasized that I stay in the Pacific instead of taking ships to Europe because he knew that the "emerging nations" were in Asia, not EuropeWhile most of my classmates, including Mike, were partying at their fraternity houses, I was studying trade, people, business styles and cultures in Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Hong vintage tank watch Kong, Vietnam, Korea, Tahiti, Samoa and the PhilippinesI also was partying, but it was not in any frat house
Educated dad just could not understand why I decided to quit and join the Marine CorpsI told him I wanted to learn to fly, but really I wanted to learn to lead troopsRich dad explained to me that the hardest part of running a company is managing peopleHe had spent three years in the Army; my educated dad was draft-exemptRich dad told me of the value of learning to lead men into dangerous situations"Leadership is what you need to learn next," he said "If you're not a good leader, you'll get shot in the back, just like they do in business
Returning from Vietnam in 1973,1 resigned my commission, even though I loved flyingI found a job with Xerox CorpI joined it for one cartier tank must reason, and it was not for the benefitsI was a shy person, and the thought of selling was the most frightening subject in the worldXerox has one of the best sales-training programs in America
Rich dad was proud of meMy educated dad was ashamedBeing an intellectual, he thought that salespeople were below him I worked with Xerox for four years until I overcame my fear of knocking on doors and being rejected Once I could consistently be in the top five in sales, I again resigned and moved on, leaving behind another great career with an excellent company
In 1977,1 formed my first companyRich dad had groomed Mike and me to take over companies So I now had to learn to form them and put them togetherMy first product, the nylon and velcro wallet, was manufactured in the Far East authentic hermes and shipped to a warehouse in New York, near where I had gone to school My formal education was complete, and it was time to test my wings If I failed, I went brokeRich dad
thought it best to go broke before 30 "You still have time to recover"
was his adviceOn the eve of my 30th birthday, my first shipment left ,,
Korea for New York
Today, I still do business internationallyAnd as my rich dad encouraged me to do, I keep seeking the emerging nationsToday my investment company invests in South America, Asia, Norway and RussiaThere is an old cliche that goes, "Job is an acronym for 'Just Over Broke'" And unfortunately, I would say that the saying applies to millions of peopleBecause school does not think financial intelligence is an intelligence, most workers "live within chanel white watch their means They work and they pay the bills
There is another horrible management theory that goes, "Workers work hard enough to not be fired, and owners pay just enough so that workers won't quit And if you look at the pay scales of most companies, again I would say there is a degree of truth in that statement
The net result is that most workers never get aheadThey do what they've been taught to do: "Get a secure job Most workers focus on working for pay and benefits that reward them in the short term, but is often disastrous in the longInstead I recommend to young people to seek work for what they will learn, more than what they will earnLook down the road at what ; skills they want to acquire before choosing a specific profession and before getting trapped in the "Rat necklace pearl chanel Rac |

| "But it's hard for most people to understand why... |

|
|
"But it's hard for most people to understand why that happens," I said"They just think it's not fair
"That's why it is foolish to simply say to a child, `Get a good education,' " he said"It is foolish to assume that the education the school system provides will prepare your children for the world they will face upon graduationEach child needs more educationAnd they need to know the rulesThe different sets of rules
"There are rules of money that the rich play by, and there are the rules that the other 95 percent of the population plays by," he said"And the 95 percent learns those rules at home and in schoolThat is why it's risky today to simply say to a child, `Study hard and look for a job' A child today needs a more sophisticated education, and the current system is not delivering the goodsI don't care how many computers they put in the classroom gucci backpack or how much money schools spendHow can the education system teach a subject that it does not know?"
So how does a parent teach their children, what the school does not? How do you teach accounting to a child? Won't they get bored? And how do you teach investing when as a parent you yourself are risk averse? Instead of teaching my children to simply play it safe, I decided it was best to teach them to play it smart
"So how would you teach a child about money and all the things we've talked about?" I asked Robert"How can we make it easy for parents especially when they don't understand it themselves?"
"I wrote a book on the subject, " he said
"Where is it?"
"In my computerIt's been there for years in random piecesI add to it occasionally but I've never gotten around to put it all togetherI began writing it after my other book became a best seller, but I chanel jewelry necklace never finished the new one
And in pieces it wasAfter reading the scattered sections, I decided the book had merit and needed to be shared, especially in these changing timesWe agreed to co-author Robert's book
I asked him how much financial information he thought a child neededHe said it would depend on the childHe knew at a young age that he wanted to be rich and was fortunate enough to have a father figure who was rich and willing to guide himEducation is the foundation of success, Robert saidJust as scholastic skills are vitally important, so are financial skills and communication skills
What follows is the story of Robert's two dads, a rich one and a poor
one, that expounds on the skills he's developed over a lifetimeThe contrast between two dads provides an important perspectiveThe book is supported, edited and assembled by meFor any accountants chanel purses bags who read this book, suspend your academic book knowledge and open your mind to the theories Robert presentsAlthough many of them challenge the very fundamentals of generally accepted accounting principles, they provide a valuable insight into the way true investors analyze their investment decisions
When we as parents advise our children to "go to school, study hard and get a good job," we often do that out of cultural habitIt has always been the right thing to doWhen I met Robert, his ideas initially startled meHaving been raised by two fathers, he had been taught to strive for two different goalsHis educated dad advised him to work for a corporationHis rich dad advised him to own the corporationBoth life paths required education, but the subjects of study were completely differentHis educated dad encouraged Robert to be a smart personHis rich dad louis vuitton taschen encouraged Robert to know how to hire smart people
Having two dads caused many problemsRobert's real dad was the superintendent of education for the state of HawaiiBy the time Robert was 16, the threat of "If you don't get good grades, you won't get a good job" had little effectHe already knew his career path was to own corporations, not to work for themIn fact, if it had not been for a wise and persistent high school guidance counselor, Robert might not have gone on to collegeHe was eager to start building his assets, but finally agreed that the college education would also be a benefit to him
Truthfully, the ideas in this book are probably too far fetched and radical for most parents todaySome parents are having a hard enough time simply keeping their children in schoolBut in light of our changing times, as parents we need to be open to new and bold chanel classic handbags ideas |

said, "there are so many rooms down thereSome of

| When a man with his finger points out something to somebody, the finger may be taken wrongly for the thing pointed atIn like manner, simple and ignorant people are unable even unto their death to abandon the idea that in the finger of words there is the meaning itself, and will not grasp ultimate reality because of their deep clinging to wordse not like one who, grasping his own finger, sees the meaning thereYou should rather energetically discipline yourself to get at the meaning itself Lankavatara Sutra 76 (Quoted from World Scripture)

| Then he heard someone moving in... |
06-08-2010 |
|
| Then he heard someone moving in the
room
"Sissy Miller speaking"--her voice at last answered him
"Who," he thundered, "is B"
He could hear the cheap clock ticking on her mantelpiece; then a long
drawn sighThen at last she said:
"He was my brother
He WAS her brother; her brother who had killed himself"Is there," he
heard Sissy Miller asking, "anything that I can explain?"
"Nothing!" he cried"Nothing!"
He had received his legacyShe had told him the truthShe had stepped
off the kerb to rejoin her loverShe had stepped off the kerb to escape
from him
TOGETHER AND APART
MrsDalloway introduced them, saying you will like himThe
conversation began some minutes before anything was said, for both Mr
Serle and Miss Arming looked at the sky and in both of their minds the
sky went on pouring its meaning though very differently, until the
presence of MrSerle by her side became so distinct to Miss Anning that
she could not see the sky, simply, itself, any more, but the sky shored
up by the tall body, dark eyes, grey hair, clasped hands, the stern
melancholy (but she had been told "falsely melancholy") face of Roderick
Serle, and, knowing how foolish it was, she yet felt impelled to say:
"What a beautiful night!"
Foolish! Idiotically foolish! But if one mayn't be foolish at the age of
forty in the presence of the sky, which makes the wisest imbecile--mere
wisps of straw--she and MrSerle atoms, motes, standing there at Mrs
Dalloway's window, and their lives, seen by moonlight, as long as an
insect's and no more important
"Well!" said Miss Anning, patting the sofa cushion emphaticallyAnd
down he omega watch replica sat beside herWas he "falsely melancholy," as they said?
Prompted by the sky, which seemed to make it all a little futile--what
they said, what they did--she said something perfectly commonplace again:
"There was a Miss Serle who lived at Canterbury when I was a girl
there
With the sky in his mind, all the tombs of his ancestors immediately
appeared to MrSerle in a blue romantic light, and his eyes expanding
and darkening, he said: "Yes
"We are originally a Norman family, who came over with the Conqueror
That is a Richard Serle buried in the CathedralHe was a knight of the
garter
Miss Arming felt that she had struck accidentally the true man, upon
whom the false man was builtUnder the influence of the moon (the moon
which symbolized man to her, she could see it through a chink of the
curtain, and she took dips of the moon) she was capable of saying almost
anything and she settled in to disinter the true man who was buried
under the false, saying to herself: "On, Stanley, on"--which was a
watchword of hers, a secret spur, or scourge such as middle-aged people
often make to flagellate some inveterate vice, hers being a deplorable
timidity, or rather indolence, for it was not so much that she lacked
courage, but lacked energy, especially in talking to men, who frightened
her rather, and so often her talks petered out into dull commonplaces,
and she had very few men friends--very few intimate friends at all, she
thought, but after all, did she want them? NoShe had Sarah, Arthur,
the cottage, the chow and, of course THAT, she thought, dipping herself,
sousing herself, even as she sat on the sofa beside vintage gucci bags MrSerle, in THAT,
in the sense she had coming home of something collected there, a cluster
of miracles, which she could not believe other people had (since it was
she only who had Arthur, Sarah, the cottage, and the chow), but she
soused herself again in the deep satisfactory possession, feeling that
what with this and the moon (music that was, the moon), she could afford
to leave this man and that pride of his in the Serles buriedNo! That
was the danger--she must not sink into torpidity--not at her age"On,
Stanley, on," she said to herself, and asked him:
"Do you know Canterbury yourself?"
Did he know Canterbury! MrSerle smiled, thinking how absurd a question
it was--how little she knew, this nice quiet woman who played some
instrument and seemed intelligent and had good eyes, and was wearing a
very nice old necklace--knew what it meantTo be asked if he knew
CanterburyWhen the best years of his life, all his memories, things he
had never been able to tell anybody, but had tried to write--ah, had
tried to write (and he sighed) all had centred in Canterbury; it made
him laugh
His sigh and then his laugh, his melancholy and his humour, made people
like him, and he knew it, and yet being liked had not made up for the
disappointment, and if he sponged on the liking people had for him
(paying long calls on sympathetic ladies, long, long calls), it was half
bitterly, for he had never done a tenth part of what he could have done,
and had dreamed of doing, as a boy in CanterburyWith a stranger he
felt a renewal of hope because they could not say that he had not done
what he had promised, and yielding to his charm would fake fendi spy bag give him a fresh
start--at fifty! She had touched the springFields and flowers and grey
buildings dripped down into his mind, formed silver drops on the gaunt,
dark walls of his mind and dripped downWith such an image his poems
often beganHe felt the desire to make images now, sitting by this
quiet woman
"Yes, I know Canterbury," he said reminiscently, sentimentally,
inviting, Miss Anning felt, discreet questions, and that was what made
him interesting to so many people, and it was this extraordinary
facility and responsiveness to talk on his part that had been his
undoing, so he thought often, taking his studs out and putting his keys
and small change on the dressing-table after one of these parties (and
he went out sometimes almost every night in the season), and, going down
to breakfast, becoming quite different, grumpy, unpleasant at breakfast
to his wife, who was an invalid, and never went out, but had old friends
to see her sometimes, women friends for the most part, interested in
Indian philosophy and different cures and different doctors, which
Roderick Serle snubbed off by some caustic remark too clever for her to
meet, except by gentle expostulations and a tear or two--he had failed,
he often thought, because he could not cut himself off utterly from
society and the company of women, which was so necessary to him, and
writeHe had involved himself too deep in life--and here he would cross
his knees (all his movements were a little unconventional and
distinguished) and not blame himself, but put the blame off upon the
richness of his nature, which he compared favourably with Wordsworth's,
for example, omega seamaster watch and, since he had given so much to people, he felt, resting
his head on his hands, they in their turn should help him, and this was
the prelude, tremulous, fascinating, exciting, to talk; and images
bubbled up in his mind
"She's like a fruit tree--like a flowering cherry tree," he said, looking
at a youngish woman with fine white hairIt was a nice sort of image,
Ruth Anning thought--rather nice, yet she did not feel sure that she
liked this distinguished, melancholy man with his gestures; and it's
odd, she thought, how one's feelings are influencedShe did not like
HIM, though she rather liked that comparison of his of a woman to a
cherry treeFibres of her were floated capriciously this way and that,
like the tentacles of a sea anemone, now thrilled, now snubbed, and her
brain, miles away, cool and distant, up in the air, received messages
which it would sum up in time so that, when people talked about Roderick
Serle (and he was a bit of a figure) she would say unhesitatingly: "I
like him," or "I don't like him," and her opinion would be made up for
everAn odd thought; a solemn thought; throwing a green light on what
human fellowship consisted of
"It's odd that you should know Canterbury," said Mr"It's always
a shock," he went on (the white-haired lady having passed), "when one
meets someone" (they had never met before), "by chance, as it were, who
touches the fringe of what has meant a great deal to oneself, touches
accidentally, for I suppose Canterbury was nothing but a nice old town
to youSo you stayed there one summer with an aunt?" (That was all Ruth
Anning was going to tell him about her visit to gucci watch bands Canterbur |

We go to school to learn a profession so we can work for moneyIt is my opinion that it is also important to learn how to have money work for you
I love my luxuries as much as anyone elseThe difference is, some people buy their luxuries on creditIt's the keep-up-with-the-Joneses trapWhen I wanted to buy a Porsche, the easy road would have been to call my banker and get a loanInstead of choosing to focus in the liability column, I chose to focus in the asset column
As a habit, I used my desire to consume to inspire gucci watches for women and motivate my financial genius to invest
Too often today, we focus to borrowing money to get the things we want instead of focusing on creating money One is easier in the short term, but harder in the long termIt's a bad habit that we as individuals and as a nation have gotten intoRemember, the easy road often becomes hard, and the hard road often becomes easy

Rich dad stopped by at noon on the third weekWe heard his truck pull up in the parking lot and sputter when the engine was turned offHe entered the store and greeted MrsAfter finding out how things were going in the store, he reached into the ice-cream freezer, pulled out two bars, paid for them, and signalled to Mike and me
"Let's go for a walk boys
We crossed the street, dodging a few cars, and walked across a large grassy field, where a few adults were omega quartz playing softballSitting down at a remote picnic table, he handed Mike and me the ice-cream bars
"How's it going boys?"
"OK," Mike said
I nodded in agreement
"Learn anything yet?" rich dad asked
Mike and I looked at each other, shrugged our shoulders and shook our heads in unison
Avoiding One of Life's Biggest Traps
"Well, you boys had better start thinkingYou're staring at one of life's biggest lessonsIf you learn the lesson, you'll enjoy a life of great freedom and securityIf you don't learn the lesson, you'll wind up like MrsMartin and most of the people playing softball in this parkThey work very hard, for little money, clinging to the illusion of gucci hobo job security, looking forward to a three-week vacation each year and a skimpy pension after forty-five years of workIf that excites you, I'll give you a raise to 25 cents an hour
"But these are good hard-working peopleAre you making fun of them?" I demanded
A smile came over rich dad's faceMartin is like a mother to meI would never be that cruelI may sound cruel because I'm doing my best to point something out to the two of youI want to expand your point of view so you can see somethingSomething most people never have the benefit of seeing because their vision is too narrowMost people never see the trap they are in

| It was long and low, filling up
the center of the roomOne end of it came to a point
The other end was flatAcross the open middle
stretched two metal stripsFour stout ropes were
attached to the outside, one at each end and one on
|; each sideAnd on the floor of the thing were two poles,
each flattened at one end
- "Look," said Lina"There's a word on its side
?They squatted at the pointed end and held the
flame near the wordIt said, in square black letters,
^BOAI"
"Boat" repeated Doon"What does that mean?"
"I don't know," said Lina"And here's another
word, on these poles: 'Paddles' The only paddle I black chanel handbags know
is the one MrsPolster uses on kids who misbehave in
school
Once again, she took her copy of the Instructions
from her pocket and consulted it, holding it in the light
of the flame"Look," she said, "right here: 'oat' must be
'boatoat, stocked with

"And the next part must say, 'stocked with necessary
equipment," said Doon"That must be what's in
the boxes

"This word must be 'ropes,'" she saidwould this word be 'downstairs'?
Maybe it says, 'head downstairs'?"
"That doesn't make balenciaga bag sense," said Doon"There
aren't any stairs, except the ones that go up He
frowned at the word, and then he took a short, sharp
breath"Downstream," he said"The word must be
'downstream' It must say something like, 'Use the
ropes to lower the boat, and head downstream'" He
looked up at Lina and spoke in a voice full of wonder
"The boat goes on the waterIt's something to ride in
They stared at each other in the flickering light,
realizing what this meantThere was no tunnel leading
out of EmberThe way out was the riverTo leave
Ember, they must go on the river

A Desperate Run
"But this can't men's gucci wallet be right," said Doon"If the river is the
way out of Ember, why is there just one boat? It's only
big enough for two people
"I don't know," said Lina
"Let's look around some moreDoon went back to where they'd
left the boxes and got another candleHe brought it
into the boat room and lit it, and the room grew twice
as bright Right away they saw what they hadn't
noticed before: in the back wall was a door almost as
wide as the whole roomWhen they went up to it they
could see that it, too, was a sliding doorDoon took
hold of the handle that was on the right and pulled
sideways, and the door rolled smoothly open to louis vuitton jewelry reveal

echoing sound of their voices when they spoke that

they were in a tremendous room, though the ceiling
was low--they could see it just over their headsThe
candlelight glinted off something shiny, and as they
went in farther they could see that the room was filled
with boats, row upon row of them, all just like the one
in the first room"There must be hundreds," Lina
whispered
"Enough for everyone, I suppose," said Doon
They wandered around a bit, but there wasn't

| She
pulled a folded piece of paper from her pocket"This
is the map," she said"You have one in your pocket,
tooYou have to use the map to find your way around
in here The map looked to Doon like an immense centipede--the river arched across the top of the page
like the centipede's body, and the tunnels dangled
down from it like hundreds of long, long legs all tangled
up with each other
To get to Tunnel 97, they followed a complicated
route through passageways lined with crusty, rusted
pipes that carried water to all the buildings of Ember
Puddles stood on the floor of the tunnel, and water
dripped in brown rivulets down the wallsJust as in the
main tunnel, there was a string of bulbs along the
ceiling that provided dim lightDoon occupied his
mind by calculating how far underground he was
From balenciaga london the river to the ceiling of the main tunnel must
be thirty feet or so, he thoughtAbove that were the
storerooms, which occupied a layer at least twenty feet highSo that meant he was fifty feet underground,
44
with tons of earth and rock and buildings above him
The thought made him tense up his shouldersHe cast
a quick glance upward, as if all that weight might collapse
onto his head
"Here we are," said ArlinShe was standing next to
a leak that spurted a stream of water straight out from
the wall"We have to turn the shut-off valve, take the
pipe apart, put on a new connector, and stick it back
together again
With wrenches, hammers, washers, and black
goop, they did this, getting soaked in the processIt
took them most of the morning and proved to Doon
that the city was in even worse shape tiffany and co necklace than he'd suspected
Not only were the lights about to fail and the
supplies about to run out, but the water system was
breaking downThe whole city was crumbling, and
what was anyone doing about it?
When the lunch break came, Arlin took her lunch
sack from a pocket in her tool belt and went off to
meet some friends a few tunnels away"You stay right
here and wait until I get back," she said as she left"If
you wander around, you'll get lost
But Doon set out as soon as she disappeared
Using his map, he found his way back to the main
tunnel, then hurried to the east endHe wasn't going to
wait for special permission to see the generatorHe was
pretty sure he could find a way to get in on his own,
and he didHe simply stood by the door and waited for
45
someone to come outQuite soon, a stout picasso cartier woman
carrying a lunch sack pushed open the door and
walked awayShe didn't notice himBefore the door
could close again, Doon slipped inside
Such a horrendous noise met him that he staggered
backward a few stepsIt was an earsplitting,
growling, grinding, screaming noise, shot through
with a hoarse rackety-rackety sound and underscored
with a deep chugga-chugga-chuggaDoon clapped his
hands over his ears and stepped forwardIn front of
him was a gigantic black machine, two stories highIt
was vibrating so hard it looked as if it might explode
any secondSeveral people wearing earmuffs were
busy around itNone of them noticed him come in
He tapped one of them on the shoulder, and the
person jumped and whirled aroundHe was an old
man, Doon saw, with a deeply lined brown face
"I want to learn about the cheap tiffany's jewelry generator!" Doon
screamed, but he might as well have saved his breath
No one could be heard in the uproarThe old man
glared at him, made a shooing motion with his hand,
and turned back to work
Doon stood and watched for a whileBeside the
huge machine were ladders on wheels that the workers
pushed back and forth and climbed up on to reach the
high partsAll over the room, greasy-looking cans and
tools littered the floorAgainst the walls stood big bins
holding every kind of bolt and screw and gear and
46
lever and rod and tube, all of them black with age and
jumbled togetherThe workers scurried between the
bins and the generator or simply stood and watched
the thing shake
After a few minutes, Doon left
All his life he had studied how things worked--it was
one of his favorite things to chanel handbags collection |
