So what do I do? I go to seminarsI like it when they are at least two days long because I like to immerse myself in a subjectIn 1973, I was watching TV and this guy came on advertising a three-day seminar on how to buy real estate for nothing downI spent $385 and that course has made me at least $2 million, if not moreBut more importantly, it bought me lifeI don't have to work for the rest of my life because of that one courseI go to at least two such courses every yearThe reason: I can rewind quicklyI was listening to a tape by Peter Lynch, and he said something I completely disagreed with Instead of becoming arrogant and critical, I simply pushed "rewind" and I listened to that five-minute stretch of tape at least twenty timesBut suddenly, by keeping my fendi spy bags mind open, I understood why he said what he saidI felt like I had a window into the mind of one of the greatest investors of our timeI gained tremendous depth and insight into the vast resources of his education and experience
The net result: I still have the old way I used to think, and I have Peter's way of looking at the same problem or situationI have two thoughts instead of one One more way to analyze a problem or trend, and that is pricelessToday, I often say, "How would Peter Lynch do this, or Donald Trump or Warren Buffett or George Soros?" The only way I can access their vast mental power is to be humble enough to read or listen to what they have to sayArrogant or critical people are often people with low self-esteem who are afraid of taking risksYou see, chanel handbags on sale if you learn something new, you are then required to make mistakes in order to fully understand what you have learned
If you have read this far, arrogance is not one of your problemsArrogant people rarely read or buy tapesWhy should they? They are the center of the universe
There are so many "intelligent" people who argue or defend when a new idea clashes with the way they thinkIn this case, their so-called "intelligence" combined with "arrogance" equals "ignorance"Each of us knows people who are highly educated, or believe they are smart, but their balance sheet paints a different pictureA truly intelligent person welcomes new ideas, for new ideas can add to the synergy of other accumulated ideasListening is more important than talkingIf that was not true, costume jewelry chanel God would not have given us two ears and only one mouthToo many people think with their mouth instead of listening to absorb new ideas and possibilitiesThey argue instead of asking questions
I take a long view on my wealthI do not subscribe to the "Get rich quick" mentality most lottery players or casino gamblers haveI may go in and out of stocks, but I am long on educationIf you want to fly an airplane, I advise taking lessons firstI am always shocked at people who buy stocks or real estate, but never invest in their greatest asset, their mindJust because you bought a house or two does not make you an expert at real estateCHOOSE FRIENDS CAREFULLY: The power of associationFirst of all, I do not choose my friends by their financial statementsI have friends who vintage chanel jewelry have actually taken the vow of poverty as well as friends who earn millions every yearThe point is I learn from all of them, and I consciously make the effort to learn from them
Now I will admit that there are people I have actually sought out because they had moneyBut I was not after their money; I was seeking their knowledgeIn some cases, these people who had money have become dear friends, but not all
But there is one distinction that I would like to point outI've noticed that my friends with money talk about moneyAnd I do not mean bragThey're interested in the subject So I learn from them, and they learn from meMy friends, whom I know are in dire straits financially, do not like talking about money, business or investingThey often think it rude or chanel white watches unintellectua |

| So people also work for money because of desireThey desire money for the joy they think it can buyBut the joy that money brings is often short lived, and they soon need more money for more joy, more pleasure, more comfort, more securitySo they keep working, thinking money will soothe their souls that is troubled by fear and desireBut money cannot do that
"Even rich people?" Mike asked
"Rich people included," said rich dad"In fact, the reason many rich people are rich is not because of desire but because of fearThey actually think that money can eliminate that fear of not having money, of being poor, so they amass tons of it only tofind out the fear gets worseThey silver chanel now fear losing itI have friends who keep working even though they have plentyI know people who have millions who are more afraid now than when they were poorThey're terrified of losing all their moneyThe fears that drove them to get rich got worseThat weak and needy part of their soul is actually screaming louderThey don't want to lose the big houses, the cars, the high life that money has bought themThey worry about what their friends would say if they lost all their moneyMany are emotionally desperate and neurotic, although they look rich and have more money
"So is a poor man happier?" I asked
"No, I don't think so," replied rich dad"The avoidance of money is just chanel watch women as psychotic as being attached to money
As if on cue, the town derelict went past our table, stopping by the large rubbish can and rummaging around in itThe three of us watched him with great interest, when before we probably would have just ignored him
Rich dad pulled a dollar out of his wallet and gestured to the older manSeeing the money, the derelict came over immediately, took the bill, thanked rich dad profusely and hurried off ecstatic with his good fortune
"He's not much different from most of my employees," said rich dad"I've met so many people who say, `Oh, I'm not interested in money' Yet they'll work at a job for eight hours a dayThat's a denial of truthIf balenciaga first they weren't interested in money, then why are they working? That kind of thinking is probably more psychotic than a person who hoards money
As I sat there listening to my rich dad, my mind was flashing back to the countless times my own dad said, "I'm not interested in money He said those words oftenHe also covered himself by always saying, "I work because I love my job
"So what do we do?" I asked"Not work for money until all traces of fear and greed are gone?"
"No, that would be a waste of time," said rich dad"Emotions are what make us humanThe word `emotion' stands for energy in motionBe truthful about your emotions, and use your mind and emotions in your prada fairy bag favor, not against yourself
"Don't worry about what I just saidIt will make more sense in years to comejust be an observer, not a reactor, to your emotionsMost people do not know that it's their emotions that are doing the thinkingYour emotions are your emotions, but you have got to learn to do your own thinking
"Can you give me an example?" I asked
"Sure," replied rich dad"When a person says, `I need to find a job,' it's most likely an emotion doing the thinkingFear of not having money generates that thought
"But people do need money if they have bills to pay," I said
"Sure they do," smiled rich dad"All I'm saying is that it's fear that is all too often doing the chanel jumbo flap thinkin |

|
| The creature's
wings were crushed flat against its body at first, but
soon they opened, and Doon saw what his green worm
had become: a moth with light brown wingsHe lifted
the box and carried it to the windowHe opened the
window and held the box out into the airThe moth
waved its feathery feelers and took a few steps along
the wilted cabbage leafFor several minutes, it stood
198
still, its wings trembling slightlyThen it fluttered up
into the air, rising higher and higher until it was just a
pale spot against the dark sky
Doon watched until the moth disappearedHe
knew he had seen something marvelousWhat was the
power that turned the worm into a moth? It was
greater than any power the Builders had had, he was
sure of thatThe power that ran the city of Ember
was feeble by comparison--and about to run chanel shopping bag out
For a few minutes he stood by the window, looking
out over the square and thinking again about what
to pack for his journeyShould he put in anything like
nails or wire? Would he need money? Should he take
some soap?
Then he laughed and struck a hand against his
headHe kept forgetting that the entire population of
the city would be with him on the tripIf he needed
something he didn't have, someone would surely be
able to supply it
So he tied a knot in his pillowcase and was about
to close the window when he caught sight of three
burly men wearing the red and brown uniform of the
city guards striding into the squareThey stopped and
looked around for a momentThen one of them confronted
old humpbacked Nammy Proggs, who was
standing not far from the entrance to the Small Items
shopThe guard towered over her, and she twisted chanel j12 white watch her
head sideways and squinted up at himDoon could
199
hear the guard's voice clearly: "We're looking for a boy
named Harrow
"Why?" said Nammy
"Spreading vicious rumors" was the answer"Do
you know where he is?"
Nammy hesitated a moment, and then she said,
"Went off to the trash heaps just a minute ago The
guard nodded curtly and beckoned to his companions
Spreading vicious rumors! Doon was so stunned that he stood still as stone for a long minuteWhat
could they possibly mean? But there was only one
answerIt had to be what they'd told the assistant
guard about the mayorWhy were they calling it a
vicious rumor? It was the truth! He didn't understand
it
He did understand, though, that Nammy Proggs
had done him a favorShe must have seen that the
guards meant him no goodShe had protected him, at
least borse replica for the moment, by sending the guards to the
wrong place
Doon forced his mind to slow down and think
Why did the guards think he and Lina were lying?
Obviously, they hadn't investigated the room in
Tunnel 351If they had, they'd have known he and
Lina were telling the truth
He could think of only one other possibilityThe
guards--at least some of them--already knew what
200
the mayor was doingThey knew about it and wanted
it to stay a secretAnd why? It was clear: the guards,
too, were getting things from the storerooms
It had to be the answerFor a moment, the fear
he'd felt when he saw the guards was replaced by rage
The familiar hot wave rose in him, and he wanted to
grab a handful of his father's nails or pot shards and
throw them against the wallBut all at once he remembered:
if the guards were after him, omega seamaster gold they'd be after
Lina, tooHe dashed down the
stairs, his anger turning into power for his running
feet
After discovering the room full of boats, Lina had
come home to MrsMurdo's with the sound of the
river still in her earsIt was like a huge, powerful voice,
roaring at the top of its lungsDeep inside herself
Lina felt an answering call, as if she, too, contained a
drop of the same powerShe would ride on the river-- she could hardly believe it--and it might take her to
the shining city she had dreamed of, or it might
drown herWhat she had imagined before--the
smooth, gently sloping path leading out--now seemed
childishHow could the way into a new world be so
easy? She dreaded going on the river, but she was ready
for it, too
She slept that night in the beautiful blue-green
room, in the big, lumpy bed with Poppy next to j12 chanel diamond watch |

06-09-2010 |
|
| He could take apart an
old watch and put it back together exactly as it had
beenHe understood how the faucets in the sink
workedHe'd fixed the toilet many timesHe'd made a
wheeled cart out of the parts of an old armchairHe
even had a hazy idea of what was going on in the
refrigeratorHe was proud of his mechanical talent
There was only one thing he didn't understand at all,
and that was electricityWhat was the power that ran
through the wires and into the light bulbs? Where did
it come from? He had thought that if he could just get
a look at the generator, he would have the clue he
neededFrom there, he could begin to work on a solution
that would keep the lights of Ember burning
But one glimpse of the generator showed him how
foolish he wasHe'd expected to see something whose
workings he could understand--a wheel turning, fendi replica spy bag a
spark being struck, some wires that led from one point
to anotherBut this monstrous roaring thing--he
wondered if anyone understood how it workedIt
looked as if all they were doing was trying to keep it
from flying apart
47
As it turned out, he was rightWhen the day was
over and he was upstairs taking off his boots and
slicker, he saw the old man from the generator room
and went to talk to him"Can you explain to me about
the generator?" he asked"Can you tell me how it
works?"
The old man just sighed"All I know is, the river
makes it go
"But how?"
The man shrugged"Who knows? Our job is just
to keep it from breaking downIf a part breaks, we got
to put on a new oneIf a part freezes up, we got to oil
it He wiped his hand wearily across his forehead,
leaving a streak of black grease"I been working on the
generator for miu miu clutch twenty yearsIt's always managed to chug
along, but this year The thing seems
to break down every couple minutes He cracked a
wry smile"Of course, I hear we might run out of light
bulbs before that, and then it won't matter if the
generator works or not
Running out of light bulbs, running out of power,
running out of time--disaster was right around the
cornerThat's what Doon was thinking about when he
stopped outside the Gathering Hall on his way home
and saw Lina on the roofShe looked so free and happy
up thereHe didn't know why she was on the roof, but
he wasn't surprisedIt was the kind of thing she did,
turning up in unexpected places, and now that she was
48
a messenger, she could go just about anywhereBut
how could she be so lighthearted when everything was
falling apart?
He headed for homeHe lived with his chanel quilted handbag father in a
two-bedroom apartment over his father's shop in
Greengate Square--the Small Items shop, which sold
things like nails, pins, tacks, clips, springs, jar lids,
doorknobs, bits of wire, shards of glass, chunks of
wood, and other small things that might be useful in
some wayThe Small Items shop had overflowed
somewhat into their apartment aboveIn their front
room, where other people might display a nice teapot
on a tabletop or a few attractive squashes or tomatoes
on a shelf, they had buckets and boxes and baskets full
of spare items for the shop, things Doon's father had
collected but not yet organized for sellingOften these
items spilled over onto the floorIt was easy to trip
over things in this apartment, and not a good idea to
go barefoot
Today Doon didn't stop in at the shop to see his
father before going upstairsHe saddle handbags wasn't in the mood for
conversationHe removed two buckets of stuff from
the couch--it looked like mostly shoe heels--and
flopped down on the cushionsHe'd been stupid to
think he could understand the generator just by looking
at it, when other people had been working on it
their entire livesThe thing was, he had to admit, he'd
always thought he was smarter than other peopleHe'd
49
been sure he could learn about electricity and help
save the cityHe wanted to be the one to do itHe had
imagined many times a ceremony in Harken Square,
organized to thank him for saving Ember, with the
entire population in attendance and his father beaming
from the front rowAll Doon's life, his father had
been saying to him, "You're a good boy and a smart
boyYou'll do grand things someday, I know you will
But Doon hadn't done much that was grand balenciaga first so |

|
| Many people will have nothing at the end of their working days
Again, a picture is worth a thousand words Here is a diagram of the income statement and balance sheet that best describes Ray Kroc's advice:
Most people
Your Profession -> Your Income
The Rich
Your Assets -> Your Income
Our current educational system focuses on preparing today's youth to get good jobs by developing scholastic skillsTheir lives will revolve around their wages, or as described earlier, their income columnAnd after developing scholastic skills, they go on to higher levels of schooling to enhance their professional abilitiesThey study to become engineers, scientists, cooks, police officers, artists, writers and so onThese professional skills allow them to enter the workforce and work for money
There is a big miu miu black bag difference between your profession and your businessOften I ask people, "What is your business?" And they will say, "Oh I'm a banker Then I ask them if they own the bank? And they usually respond
In that instance, they have confused their profession with their businessTheir profession may be a banker, but they still need their own business Ray Kroc was clear on the difference between his profession and his businessHis profession was always the sameAt one time he sold mixers for milkshakes, and soon thereafter he was selling hamburger franchises- But while his profession was selling hamburger franchises, his business was the accumulation of income-producing real estate
A problem with school is that you often become what you study So if you study, say, cooking, you become a chef If you study the law, you become an gucci horsebit hobo attorney, and a study of auto mechanics makes you a mechanicThe mistake in becoming what you study is that too many people forget to mind their own businessThey spend their lives minding someone else's business and making that person rich
To become financially secure, a person needs to mind their own business Your business revolves around your asset column, as opposed to your income columnAs stated earlier, the No1 rule is to know the difference between an asset and a liability, and to buy assetsThe rich focus on their asset columns while everyone else focuses on their income statements
That is why we hear so often: "I need a raise "If only I had a promotion "I am going to go back to school to get more training so I can get a better job "I am going to work overtime "Maybe I can get a second job "I'm gucci bookbag quitting in two weeks I found a job that pays more
In some circles, these are sensible ideas Yet, if you listen to Ray Kroc, you are still not minding your own business These ideas all still focus on the income column and will only help a person become more financially secure if the additional money is used to purchase income-generating assets
The primary reason the majority of the poor and middle class are fiscally conservative-which means"I can't afford to take risks"-is that they have no financial foundation They have to cling to their jobsThey have to play it safe
When downsizing became the "in" thing lo do, millions of workers | found out their largest so-called asset, their home, was eating them alive, j Their asset, called a house, still cost them money every monthTheir car, another "asset," was eating louis vuitton duffle bag them aliveThe golf clubs in the garage that cost $1,000 were not worth 51,000 anymore Without job security, they had nothing to fall back on What they thought were assets could not help them survive in a time of financial crisis
1 assume most of us have filled out a credit application for a banker to buy a house or to buy a car It is always interesting to look at the "net worth'1 section It is interesting because of what accepted banking and accounting practices allow a person to count as assets
One day, to get a loan, my financial position did not look too goodSo I added my new golf clubs, my art collection, books, stereo, television, Armani suits, wristwatches, shoes and other personal effects to boost the number in the asset column
But I was turned down for the loan because I had too much investment real picasso cartier esta |

material was loose, and blotched with whitish mold
Lina edged the strap off carefullyIt was partly
rotten; on the end of it was a small square buckle,
covered with rustShe folded back the wrapping
Doon took a sharp breath"It's a tiffany silver jewelry book," he said
He moved his candle closer, and Lina opened the
brown coverThe pages inside had faint blue lines
across them, and someone had written along these
lines in slanted black letters, which were not neat like
the writing in the library books, but sprawling, as if the
writer had been in a hurry
Doon ran his finger under the first line"It says, They tell usweThey tell us we
leave tonight
He looked up and met Lina's eyes
"Leave?" said Lina"From where?"
"From Ember?" Doon asked"Could someone
have come this way before us?"
"Or was it someone chanel classic bag leaving the other city?"
Doon looked down at the book againHe riffled
through the pages--there were many of them
"Let's save it," said Lina"We'll read it when we get
to the new city"It'll be easier to see there
So Lina wrapped up the book again and tied it
securely into Doon's bundleThey sat on the rock shelf

"And what about Poppy? What did you tell Mrs

"Found what?" asked Captain Fleery
"Some paper with writing on itI think it might be
important
Captain Fleery raised her skinny eyebrows"What
do you mean, important?"
"Well, I'm not sureBut would you
look at it anyway?"
So that evening Captain Fleery came home with
Lina and peered at the bits of paperShe bent down
and inspected the writing"Acks? Rem?
Ont? What kind of words are those?"
"I don't know," said Lina"The words are all broken
up because Poppy chewed on them
"I see," said Captain FleeryShe poked at the
paper"This looks like chanel quilted handbag instructions for something," she
said'Small steel pan'--that would
be what you use to cook it with
"But who would have such small, perfect writing?"
"That's the way they wrote in the old days,"
said Captain Fleery"It could be a very old recipe
97
"But then why would it have been kept in this
beautiful box?" She showed the box to Captain Fleery
"I think it was locked up in here for some reason,
and you wouldn't lock up something unless it was
important
But Captain Fleery didn't seem to have heard her
"Or," she said, "it could be a chanel jumbo bag school exerciseSomeone's
homework that never got turned in
"But have you ever seen paper like this? Doesn't it
look as if it came from someplace else--not here?"
Captain Fleery straightened upA look of puzzlement
came over her face"There is nowhere but here,"
she saidShe put both her hands on Lina's shoulders
"You, my dear, are letting your imagination run away
with youAre you overtired, Lina? Are you anxious? I
could put you on short days for a while
"No," said Lina, "I'm fineBut I don't know
what to do about She gestured toward the paper
"Never cartier love mind," said Captain Fleery"Don't think
about itYou're worrying too much-- I know, I know, we all are, there's so much to worry
about, but we mustn't let it unsettle us She gave Lina
a long lookHer eyes were the color of dishwater
"Help is coming," she said
"Who is?"
98
Captain Fleery bent down and lowered her voice,
as if telling a secret"Who built our city, dear?"
"The Builders," said LinaAnd the Builders will come again
and show us the way
"They will?"
"Very soon," said Captain Fleery
"How do you know?"
Captain Fleery classic chanel handbag straightened up again and clapped
a hand over her heart"I know it here," she said"And
I have seen it in a dreamSo have all of us, all the
Believers
So that's what they believe, Lina thought--and
Captain Fleery is one of themShe wondered how the
captain could feel so sure about it, just because she'd
seen it in a dreamMaybe it was the same for her as the
sparkling city was for Lina--she wanted it to be true
The captain's face lit up"I know what you must
do, dear--come to one of our meetingsIt would lift
your heart
"Oh," said Lina, "thank you, but I'm not gucci twirl watch sure |

| Easily aroused, they bring a great deal of trouble and anguish upon themselves
Master Tam: 256
PARABLE 0110: PARAMITA OF CHARITY
"The Buddha was once a king who ruled over his people with wisdom and benevolenceHowever, the nation suffered twelve years of drought and many people were dying of starvationThe king then gathered all the grain to be found in the country and distributed it equally among the peopleAt that time a Pratyeka Buddha who had dedicated himself to Buddhist practice for forty kalpas appeared and begged for foodThe king gave him his last bit of food as an offeringThis good deed caused various grains to fall from the skies like rain for seven daysThereafter, seven kinds of treasures as well as clothes, food and other necessities rained down every
seventh day, putting an end to the people's poverty (Sutra of the Golden-colored King)

PARABLE 0111: PRECEPT (NO INTOXICANTS)
"Once there was a layman who received the five vintage chanel jewelry preceptsAt first they were very important to him and he strictly observed themAfter a time, his old bad habits surfaced and he longed for a taste of wineHe thought, 'Among the five precepts, the one against drinking is really unnecessaryWhat's wrong with a little glass of wine?' He bought three pints of brandy and downed themAs he was drinking, the neighbor's little chicken ran into his house'They've sent me a snack'I'll put this chicken on the menu to help send down my brandy' He then grabbed the bird and killed it
This is a distinctly Chinese story and not a Western storyWhy? Chinese people like to eat hors d'oeuvres with their alcoholWesterners don't need snacks to send off their wineAnyway, because he drank the wine, he wanted the meat and thus broke the precept against killingSince he took the chicken without the owner's permission, he also broke the precept against stealingThen the neighbor lady walked in and said, 'Say, did you see my buy chanel bags chicken?'
Drunk as he was, and full of chicken, he slurred, 'No didn't see no chickenullet didn't run over here' So saying, he broke the precept against lyingThen he took a look at the woman--she was quite pretty--and forthwith he broke the precept against sexual misconductA little drink of brandy led him to transgress all five of the preceptsTherefore, the precept against taking intoxicants is very important
Master Hsuan Hua: 60-61
Note: Bodhisattva PreceptsSelling alcoholic beverages is considered a major offense while consuming alcoholic beverages is only a secondary oneThis is because Bodhisattvas place compassion first and foremost and aim at benefitting others -- to sell liquor is to harm others, to consume liquor is to harm mainly oneselfWhy should we not consume alcoholic beverages? Buddhism prohibits alcoholic beverages not to deny enjoyment of life, but because alcohol clouds the mind and prevents one's innate wisdom from emergingThus, to sell vintage omega watches liquor goes against the Bodhisattva's
compassionate goal -- to help sentient beings develop wisdom and achieve Buddhahood

"As an acrobat clears the ground before he shows his tricks, so good conduct (keeping the precepts) is the basis of all good qualities" (Questions of King Milinda31
PARABLE 0113: KEEPING THE PRECEPTS
"The Maha-Maya Sutra recounts the tale of Malika, the wife of King Prasenajit, who lies, seductively adorns her body, entertains, and serves wine to the king
When the Buddha was in the world, King Prasenajit's Queen had received the eight precepts of a laypersonOne time, King Prasenajit wanted to kill his cookWhen his Queen heard about this she wanted to save the cook, so she bedecked herself in fine adornments, put on fragrant powders, placed flowers in her hair, and prepared delicious food and wineThen she took along several chanel jumbo bag ladies-in-waiting and went to see the KingKing Prasenajit was extremely pleased with the wine and the food, and afterwards the Queen beseeched the King to forgo his idea of killing the cookThe King consented, and so in this way the cook was saved
The next day, the Queen went to the Buddha's place and repentedShe had already taken the eight lay precepts, and one of them is that one can't put fragrant oils or perfumes on one's body or flowers in one's hairShe had also drunk wine the previous dayut since the only reason she did all that was because she wanted to save the cook's life, the Buddha said, 'Not only have you not transgressed the precepts, you actually have gained merit and virtue'"
(Master Hsuan Hua)
"Because her motives were wholesome and pure, the Buddha praises her actionsChan-jan notes: 'This story tells of breaking the precepts to save beings because of the Bodhisattva's basic desire to benefit othersAs such,
it is known as 'good in the midst of cartier tank louis evil |
