"I not going to live in that house or even step inside it if you don't get Hari to come and bless it
"If Hari come and bless it, it wouldn't surprise me if nobody at all even get a chance to live in it
But she couldn't undo the frames and the pillars, and in the end he agreedShe went back to Hanuman House with an urgent message for Hari, and next morning MrMaclean to wait until Hari had done his business
Hari came early, neither interested nor antagonistic, just constipatedly apatheticHe came in normal clothes, with his pundit's gear in a small cardboard suitcaseHe bathed at one of the barrels behind the barracks, changed into a dhoti in MrBiswas's room and went to the site with a brass jar, some mango gucci clearance leaves and other equipmentMaclean had got Edgar to clean out a holeIn his thin voice Hari whined out the prayersWhining, he sprinkled water into the hole with a mango leaf and dropped a penny and some other things wrapped in another mango leafThroughout the ceremony MrMaclean stood up reverentially, his hat off
Then Hari went back to the barracks, changed into trousers and shirt, and was offMaclean looked surprised"That is all?" he asked"No sharing-out of anything -- food and thing -- as other Indians does do?"
"When the house finish," MrMaclean bore his disappointment well
Edgar was putting a pillar into the consecrated holeMaclean, "Is a waste of a good penny, if you ask me
At the end of the week the prada fairy house had begun to take shapeThe floor-frame had been put on, and the frames for the walls; the roof was outlinedOn Monday the back staircase went up after MrMaclean's work-bench had been dismantled for its materialMaclean said, "We going to come back when you get some more materialsBiswas went to the site and examined the skeleton of the houseThe wooden pillars were not as bad as he had fearedFrom a distance they looked straight and cylindrical, contrasting with the squareness of the rest of the frame, and he decided that this was practically a style
He had to get floorboards; he wanted pitchpine for that, not the five inch width, which he thought common, but the two and a half inch, which he had seen in some chanel logo earrings ceilingsHe had to get boards for the walls, broad boards, with tongue-and-grooveAnd he had to get corrugated iron for the roof, new sheets with blue triangles stamped on the silver, so that they looked like sheets of an expensive stone rather than iron
At the end of the month he set aside fifteen of his twenty-five dollars for the houseThis was extravagant; he was eventually left with ten
At the end of the second month he could add only eight dollars
Then Seth came up with an offer
"The old lady have some galvanize in Ceylon," he said"From the old brick-factory
The factory had been pulled down while MrBiswas was living at The Chase
"Five dollars," Seth said"I don't know why I didn't think of it beforeBiswas dolce and gabbana knock off went to Hanuman House
"How is the house, brother-in-law?" Chinta asked
"Why you asking? Hari bless it, and you know what does happen when Hari bless something
Anand and Savi followed MrBiswas to the back, where everything was gritty with the chaff from the new rice-mill next door, and the iron sheets were stacked like a very old pack of cards against the fenceThe sheets were of varying shapes, bent, warped and richly rusted, with corners curled into vicious-looking hooks, corrugations irregularly flattened out, and nail-holes everywhere, dangerous to the touch
Anand said, "Pa, you not going to use _that_?"
"You will make the house look like a shack," Savi said
"You want something to cover your house," Seth omega geneve automatic sa |

| "Why am I not enough for you?"
Nagasawa kept silent for a moment and swirled the whisky in his

That's what makes me meThere's nothing I can do about it, don't you

At last Hatsumi picked up her silverware and started eating her fish
"At least you shouldn't drag Toru into your "games'
"We're a lot alike, gucci black bag though, Watanabe and me," said Nagasawa
"Neither of us is interested, essentially, in anything but ourselvesOK,
so I'm arrogant and he's not, but neither of us is able to feel any

That's why we can think about things in a way that's totally divorced

is that he hasn't realized this about himself, and so he hesitates and
feels hurt
"What human being doesn't hesitate and feel hurt?" Hatsumi

"Of course I have, but I've disciplined myself to where I can minimize

"At least have dessert," said Nagasawa
"I don't mind, really

The waiters took away our plates and brought lemon sherbet and

What would they be doing now? I wonderedNaoko could be lying on

room of theirsWhat the hell was I doing in this place?
"Where Watanabe and I are alike is, we don't give a shit if nobody

|
| Whenever she introduced him to anyone she spoke of him as her colleague, a graciousness he had never before experienced; and from being relaxed with her he became debonair
Then he had a fright
Miss Logie said she would like to meet his family
Readers! Learners! Govind! Chinta! The Slumberking bed and the destitute's diningtable! And perhaps some widow might want to try again, and there would be a little tray of oranges or avocado pears outside the gateThe contagion had struck down Basdai's readers and learners wholesale, had attacked a little Tuttle; but it had not yet got to Mr
"They are all down with mumps, I fear
And when later Miss Logie asked after the children, MrBiswas had to say they had recovered, though they had in fact just succumbed
Promptly at the end of the month the chanel wallet free delivery of the _Sentinel_ stopped
"Don't you think a little holiday before you begin would be refreshing?" Miss Logie said
"I was thinking of that The words came out easily; they were in keeping with his new mannerAnd he saw himself condemned to a pay-less week among the readers and learners"Yes, a little holiday would be most refreshing
"Sans Souci would be very nice
Sans Souci was in the northeast of the islandMiss Logie, a newcomer, had been there; he had not"Sans Souci would be niceOr Mayaro," he added, trying to take an independent line by mentioning a resort in the southeast
"I am sure your family would enjoy it
"You know, I believe they would Family again! He waitedShe still wanted to meet themWhat could he suggest? Bringing them to the Red House one by one?
Miss balenciaga designer Logie came to his rescueShe wondered whether they couldn't all go to Sans Souci on Sunday
That at least was safer"Of course, of course," he said"My wife can cook somethingWhere shall we meet?"
"I'll come and pick you up
"As a matter of fact I have taken a house in Sans Souci," Miss Logie saidAnd then her plan came outBiswas to take his family there for a weekTransport was difficult, but the car would come for them at the end of the weekBiswas didn't go, the house would be empty, and that would be a wasteHe had regarded his holidays simply as days on which he did not go to work; he had never thought that he might use the time to take his family to some resort: the thing was beyond ambitionFew people went on such holidaysThere were no boarding-houses or hotels, only beach houses, and chanel necklace these he had always imagined to be expensiveAnd now this! After all those letters to destitutes beginning, _Dear Sir, Your letter awaited me on my return from holiday
He made objections, but Miss Logie was firmHe thought it better not to make a fuss, for he did not wish to give the impression that he was making the thing bigger than it wasMiss Logie had made the offer out of friendship; he would accept as a friendHe warned her, however, that he would have to consult Shama, and Miss Logie said she understood
But he felt that he had been found out, that he had revealed more of himself to Miss Logie than he had thought; and this feeling was especially oppressive on the following morning when, after his bath in the outdoor bathroom, he stood before Shama's dressingtable in the inner roomIn gucci clearance moods of self-disgust he hated dressing, and this morning he saw that his comb, which he had repeatedly insisted was his and his alone, was webbed with woman's hairHe broke the comb, broke another, and used language which went neither with his clothes nor with the manner he assumed when he put them on
He reported to Miss Logie that Shama was delighted, and self-reproach was quickly forgotten when he and Shama began to prepare for the holidayThey were like conspiratorsThey had decided on secrecyThere was no reason for this except that it was one of the rules of the house: the Tuttles, for instance, had been unusually aloof just before the arrival of the naked torchbearer, and Chinta had been almost mournful before Govind had gone into threepiece suits
On Saturday Shama began packing a omega seamaster gold ham |

| She was calmer; her voice held pride and genuine concernGet him to say something, somebody
Now that Govind was off his chest MrBiswas's only concern was to make sure that he was properly dressedHe hoped nothing had happened to his pantsHe moved a hand down to investigate
"He is all right," Sushila said
Someone bent over himThat smell of oil, Vick's Vapo-rub, garlic and raw vegetables told him it was Padma"Are you all right?" she asked, and shook him
He turned over on his side, his face to the wall
"He is all right," Govind said, and added in bay bag chloe English, "Is a good thing all you people did come, otherwise I woulda be swinging on the gallows for this man
Shama had maintained her martyr's attitude throughout, sitting on the low bench, her skirt draped over her knees, one hand supporting her chin, her staring eyes misting over with tears
"Spitting on me, eh?" the god saidWhy you don't spit now? Coming and laughing at our religionLaughing at me when I do _puja_I know the good I doing myself when I do _puja_, you hear
"It's all right, son," Govind said"Nobody can insult you and Mai when I am costume chanel jewelry around
"Leave him alone, Govind," Padma said
The incident was over
Left alone, Shama and MrBiswas remained as they were, Shama staring through the doorway, MrBiswas considering the lotuses on the pale green wall
They heard the hall return to lifeThe evening meal, delayed, was being laid out with unusual zestBabies were consoled with songs, clapping, chuckles and baby-talkChildren were scolded with exceptional good humourBetween everyone downstairs there was for the moment a new bond, and MrBiswas recognized this bond as himself
"Go and get me a tin buy chanel bags of red salmon," he said to Shama, without turning from the wall
Her throat was ticklingShe coughed and tried to hide the swallow by sighing
This wearied him furtherHe got up, his pants hanging loose, and looked at herShe was still staring through the doorway into the Book RoomHe put a hand to one cheek and worked his jaw
Tears spilled over from Shama's big eyes and ran down her cheeks
"What happen? Somebody beat you too?"
She shook her tears away, without removing her hand from her chin
"Go and get me a tin of salmonAnd get some bread and cartier must 21 peppersauce
"What happen? You have a craving? You making baby?"
He would have liked to hit herBut that would have been ridiculous after what had just happened
"You making baby?" Shama repeatedShe rose, shook down her skirt and straightened itLoudly, as though trying to catch the attention of the people downstairs, she said, "Go and get it yourselfYou not going to start ordering _me_ around, you hear She blew her nose, wiped it, and leftHe gave a kick at a lotus on the wallThe noise startled him, his toe hurt, and he aimed another kick at his pile of cheap prada handbags book |

| "This is not your faultDon't
worry, by the time you come back she'll be OK
My feet carried me down the road, which was illuminated by the
oddly unreal light of the moon, and into the woods
Beneath that moonlight, all sounds bore a strange reverberationThe
hollow sound of my own footsteps seemed to come from another
direction as though I were hearing someone walking on the bottom of
the seaBehind me, every now and then, I would hear a crack or a
rustleA heavy pall hung over the forest, as if the animals of the night
were holding their breath, waiting for me to pass
Where the road sloped upwards beyond the trees, I sat and balenciaga dix motorcycle looked
towards the building where Naoko livedIt was easy to tell her room
All I had to do was find the one window towards the back where a
faint light trembledI focused on that point of light for a long, long
timeIt made me think of something like the final pulse of a soul's
dying embersI wanted to cup my hands over what was left and keep
it aliveI went on watching it the way Jay Gatsby watched that tiny
light on the opposite shore night after night
When I walked back to the front entrance of the building half an hour
later, I could hear Reiko practising the guitarI padded up the stairs
and tapped on the door to the flatInside chanel cc logo earrings there was no sign of Naoko
138
Reiko sat alone on the carpet, playing her guitarShe pointed towards
the bedroom door to let me know Naoko was in thereThen she set
down the guitar on the floor and took a seat on the sofa, inviting me to
sit next to her and dividing what wine was left between our two
glasses
"Naoko is fine," she said, touching my knee"Don't worry, all she has
to do is rest for a whileShe was just a little worked
upHow about taking a walk with me in the meantime?"
"Good," I said
Reiko and I ambled down a road illuminated by street lampsWhen
we reached the area by the tennis and basketball courts, we sat on spy bag fendi a
benchShe picked up a basketball from under the bench and turned it
in her handsThen she asked me if I played tennisI knew how to
play, I said, but I was bad at it
"How about basketball?"
"Not my strongest sport," I said
"What is your strongest sport?" Reiko asked, wrinkling the corners of
her eyes with a smile"Aside from sleeping with girls
"I'm not so good at that, either," I said, stung by her words"Just
kidding," she saidBut really, though, what are you
good at?"
"Nothing specialI have things I like to do "For instance?"
"Hiking
"You like to do things alone, then?"
"I guess soI could never get excited about games you omega seamaster de ville play with other
peopleI can't get into them
"Then you have to come here in the winterWe do crosscountry
skiingI'm sure you'd like that, tramping around in the snow all day,
working up a good sweat Under the street lamp, Reiko stared at her
right hand as though she were inspecting an antique musical
instrument
"Does Naoko often get like that?" I asked
139
"Every now and then," said Reiko, now looking at her left hand
"Every once in a while she'll get worked up and cry like thatShe's letting out her feelingsThe scary thing is not being
able to do thatWhen your feelings build up and harden and die
inside, then you're in big omega usa tro |

| In Port of Spain new lampposts, painted silver, went up in the main streets and there was talk of replacing the diesel buses by trolley-busesOwad's old room was let to a middle-aged childless coloured coupleAnd at the _Sentinel_ there were rumoursBurnett's direction the _Sentinel_ had overtaken the _Gazette_ and, though some distance behind the _Guardian_, it had become successful enough for its frivolity to be an embarrassment to the ownersBurnett had been under pressure for some timeBiswas knew, but he had no head for intrigue and did not know the source of this pressureSome of the staff became openly contemptuous and spoke of MrBurnett as uneducated; a joke went around the office that he had applied from the Argentine for a job as a sub-editor and his letter had been misunderstoodAs if in reply to all this MrBurnett became increasingly perverse"Let's face it," he chloe bag bay said"Editorials from Port of Spain didn't have much effect in SpainThey are not going to stop Hitler either The _Guardian_ responded to the war by starting a fighter fund: in a box on the front page twelve aeroplanes were outlined, and as the fund rose the outlines were filled inRight up to the end the _Sentinel_ had been headlining the West Indian cricket tour of England, and when the tour was abandoned it printed a drawing of Hitler which, when cut out and folded along certain dotted lines, became a drawing of a pig
Early in the new year the blow fellBiswas was lunching with MrBurnett in a Chinese restaurant, in one of those cubicles weakly lit by a low-hanging naked bulb, with lengths of flex loosely attached to the flyblown, grimy celotex partitions, when MrBurnett said, "Amazing scenes are going to be witnessed soonBiswas's thoughts, he added, "Nothing for you to miu miu bow bag worry about, though Then, in quick succession, he displayed a number of conflicting moodsHe was gay; he was depressed; he was glad to leave; he was sorry to go; he didn't want to talk about it; he talked about it; he wasn't going to talk any more about himself; he talked about himselfHe ate in spasms, attacking the food as though it had done him some injury"Shoots? Is that what they call this? There'll be damned little bamboo left in China at this rate He pressed the bell, which lay at the centre of a roughly circular patch of grime on the wallThey heard it ring in some distant cavern, above a multitude of other bells, the pattering of waitresses' feet and talk in adjacent cubicles
The harassed waitress came and MrBurnett said, "Shoots? This is just plain bambooWhat do you think I have inside here?" He tapped his belly"A paper factory?"
"That was one portion," the new cartier watches waitress said
"That was one bamboo
He ordered more lager and the waitress sucked her teeth and went out, leaving the swing door swinging rapidly to and fro"They make it sound like hayAnd this damned room is like a stallI've got other strings to my bowYou could go back to your sign-writingBiswas returned to the office in a state of great agitationHe had been associated, and zestfully, with some of the most frivolous excesses of the _Sentinel_Now at the thought of each he felt a stab of guilt and panicHe was expecting to be summoned to mysterious rooms and told by their secure occupants that his services were no longer requiredHe sat at his desk -- but it belonged to him no more than the columns of the _Sentinel_ he filled -- and listened to the noises made by the carpentersThose were the noises he had heard on his first day in the office; building and rebuilding had gone white chanel watch ceramic on without interruption ever sinceThe newsroom came to its afternoon lifeReporters arrived, took off their jackets, opened notebooks and typed; groups gathered at the green water-cooler and broke up again; at some desks proofs were being corrected, the inner pages laid outFor more than four years he had been part of this excitementNow, waiting for the summons, he could only observe it
Getting to believe that by staying in the office he was increasing the risk of dismissal, he left early and cycled homeSuppose he had to send the children back to Hanuman House, would there be anyone to receive them? Suppose MrsTulsi gave him notice -- as Shama did so often to the tenement people -- where would he go? How would he live?
The years stretched ahead, dark
When he got home he mixed and drank some Maclean's Brand Stomach Powder, undressed, got into bed and began to read costume jewelry chanel Epict |

But bigger than them all was the house, his house
How terrible it would have been, at this time, to be without it: to have died among the Tulsis, amid the squalor of that large, disintegrating and indifferent family; to have left Shama and the children among them, in one room; worse, to have lived without even attempting to lay claim to one's portion of the earth; to have lived and died as one had been born, unnecessary and unaccommodated

|
| Still, I was called into the dorm Head's office and
given a warning, after which I grew increasingly uncomfortable living
in the dormitory
The academic year ended in March, but I came up a few credits short
My exam results were mediocre - mostly "C"s and "D"s with a few
"B"sNaoko had all the grades she needed to begin the spring term of
her second yearWe had completed one full cycle of the seasons
Halfway through April Naoko turned 20She was seven months older
than I was, my own birthday being in NovemberThere was
something strange about her becoming 20felt as if the only thing
that made sense, whether for Naoko or for me, was to keep going back
and forth wholesale tiffany between 18 and 19After 18 would come 19, and after 19,
18, of courseAnd in the autumn, I would do the
sameOnly the dead stay 17 for ever
It rained on her birthdayAfter lectures I bought a cake nearby and
took the tram to her flat"We ought to have a celebration," I saidI
probably would have wanted the same thing if our positions had been
reversedIt must be hard to pass your twentieth birthday aloneThe
tram had been packed and had pitched so wildly that by the time I
46
arrived at Naoko's room the cake was looking more like the Roman
Colosseum than anything elseStill, once I had managed to stand up
the 20 candles I had brought along, light them, close the men's gucci wallet curtains and
turn out the lights, we had the makings of a birthday partyNaoko
opened a bottle of wineWe drank, had some cake, and enjoyed a
simple dinner
"I don't know, it's stupid being 20," she saidLike somebody's pushing me from behind
"I've got seven months to get ready," I said with a laugh
"You're so lucky! Still 19!" said Naoko with a hint of envy
While we ate I told her about Storm Trooper's new jumperUntil then
he had had only one, a navy-blue pullover, so two was a big move for
himThe jumper itself was a nice one, red and black with a knitted
deer motif, but on him it made everybody laughHe couldn't work out
what was going on
"W what's so funny, chanel necklace Watanabe?" he asked, sitting next to me in the
dining hall"Is something stuck to my forehead?"
"Nothing," I said, trying to keep a straight face"There's nothing
funny
"Thanks," he said, beaming
Naoko loved the story"I have to meet him," she said"You'd laugh in his face "You think so?"
"I'd bet on itI see him every day, and still I can't help laughing
sometimes
We cleared the table and sat on the floor, listening to music and
drinking the rest of the wineShe drank two glasses in the time it took
me to finish one
Naoko was unusually talkative that nightShe told me about her
childhood, her school, her familyEach episode was a long one,
executed with the rolex vintage women's watch painstaking detail of a miniatureI was amazed at
the power of her memory, but as I sat listening it began to dawn on me
that there was something wrong with the way she was telling these
47
stories: something strange, warped evenEach tale had its own
internal logic, but the link from one to the next was oddBefore you
knew it, story A had turned into story B, which had been contained in
A, and then came C from something in B, with no end in sightI found
things to say in response at first, but after a while I stopped tryingI
put on a record, and when it ended I lifted the needle and put on
anotherAfter the last record I went back to the first
The cycle started with omega watch replica Sgt |

| Fresh mud flowed off Tarzan's grave in a thin regular streamRaindrops glittered as they struck the sodden groundThen the thunder came, grating and closeAnand thought of a monstrous steam-roller breaking through the skyThe lightning was exciting but it made him feel peculiarThat, and the thunder, sent him back to the bedroomBiswas writing with his finger on his headBiswas quickly pretended that he was playing with his hairThe flame of the oil lamp, though protected by a glass chimney, wavered; shadows dodged about the room; the shadows of the snakes swung in an ever-changing pattern on the shivering roof
Still officially annoyed with his father, Anand sat down on the floor, at the foot of the bed, and held his arms over his kneesThe din on the roof and the beat of the rain on fendi spy replica the trees and earth made him feel chillySomething fell near himIt was a winged ant, its wings collapsed and now a burden on its wormlike bodyThese creatures came out only in heavy rain and seldom lived beyond itWhen they fell they never rose againAnand pressed a finger on the broken wingThe ant wriggled, the wing was released; and the ant, suddenly busy, suddenly deceptively whole, moved off towards the dark
All at once a cycle of heavy rain was overIt still drizzled, and the wind still blew, flinging the drizzle on the roof and walls like showers of sandIt was possible to hear the water from the roof falling to the earth, water gurgling as it ran off in its new channelsThe rain had soaked through the gaps between the wall-boardsThe edges of the floor were wet
"_Rama Rama Sita cheap tiffany's jewelry Rama, Rama Rama Sita Rama_Biswas was lolling on the bed, his legs locked together, his lips moving rapidlyThe expression on his face was one of exasperation rather than pain
Anand thought this was a plea for sympathy and ignored itHe leaned his head on his arms crossed over his knees, and rocked on the floor
A fresh cycle of rain startedA winged ant dropped on Anand's armHurriedly he brushed it off; where the ant touched him seemed to burnThen he saw that the room was full of these ants enjoying the last minutes of their short lifeTheir small wings, strained by large bodies, quickly became useless, and without wings they were without defenceThey kept on droppingTheir enemies had already discovered themOn one wall, in the shadow of the reflector of the oil lamp, Anand saw a column vintage omega watches of black antsThey were not the crazy ants, thin frivolous creatures who scattered at the slightest disturbance; they were the biting ants, smaller, thicker, neater, purple-black with a dull shine, moving slowly and in strict formation, as solemn and stately as undertakersLightning lit up the room again and Anand saw the column of biting ants stretched diagonally across two walls: a roundabout route, but they had their reasons
"Hear them!"
Anand, watching the ants, his mouth pressed on his goose-fleshed arm, didn't reply
"Boy!"
The anguish, the loudness of the voice rising above rain and wind made Anand jump
"You hear them?"
Anand listened, trying to pick up the component parts of the din: the rain, the wind, the running of water, the trees, the rain on walls and chanel ceramic watches roofTalk, indistinct, a bumble, rising and falling
"You hear them?"
Anything could sound like talk: the gurgle of water, boughs rubbing against one anotherAnand opened the door a little way and looked down through the spars of the drawingroomThe ground ran with shining black waterBelow the unfloored front bedroom, where the ground was higher and not so wet, two men were squatting before a smoking fire of twigsTwo large heart-shaped leaves of the wild _tannia_ were near the menThey must have used the leaves as umbrellas when they had been caught by the heavier showerThe men stared at the fireOne man was smoking a cigaretteIn the weak firelight, in the stillness of the scene in the midst of turmoil, this act of smoking, so intense and unruffled, might have been part of an ancient omega 18k watch ritual |

| In any case, it was time for me to get out of there

Once most of my exams were out of the way, I started looking for a
flat in earnestAfter a week of searching, I came up with the right
place way out in the suburbs of KichijojiThe location was not exactly
convenient, but it was a house: an independent house - a real find
Originally a gardener's shack or some other kind of cottage, it stood
by itself in the corner of a good-sized plot of land, separated from the
main house by a large stretch of neglected gardenThe landlord would
use the front gate, and I the back, which would make it possible for
me to preserve my privacyIt had one good-sized room, a little
kitchen and bathroom, and an unimaginably huge closet
It gucci faux even had a veranda facing the gardenA nice old couple were
renting the house at way below market value on condition that the
tenant was prepared to move out the following year if their grandson
decided to come to TokyoThey assured me that I could live as I
pleased there; they wouldn't make any demands
Nagasawa helped me with the moveHe managed to borrow a van to
transfer my stuff, and, as promised, he gave me his fridge, TV, and
oversize thermos flaskHe might not need them any more, but for me
they were perfectHe himself was scheduled to move out in two days,
to a flat in the Mita neighbourhood
"I guess we won't be seeing each other for a long time," he said as he
left me, "so keep wellI'm still sure we'll run across balenciaga dix motorcycle each other in
some strange place years from now
"I'm already looking forward to it," I said
"And that time we switched girls, the funny-looking one was way
better
"Right on," I said with a laugh"But anyway, Nagasawa, take care of
HatsumiGood ones like her are hard to findAnd she's a lot more
fragile than she looks
"Yeah, I know," he said, nodding"That's why I was hoping you
would take her when I was throughThe two of you would make a

great couple
"Yeah, right!" I said
"Just kidding," said NagasawaI get the feeling a
lot of shit is going to come your way, but you're a stubborn bastard,
I'm sure you'll handle itMind if I give you one piece of advice?"
"Go ahead
"Don't feel sorry for yourself," he said"Only fake cartier watches arseholes do that
"I'll keep it in mind," I saidWe shook hands and went our separate
ways, he to his new world, and I back to my swamp
Three days after my move, I wrote to NaokoI described my new
house and said how relieved I was to be away from the idiots in the
dorm and all their stupid brainstormsNow I could start my new life
with a new frame of mind
My window looks out on a big garden, which is used as a meeting
place by all the neighbourhood catsI like to stretch out on the
veranda and watch themI'm not sure how many of them get together,
but this is one big gang of catsThey sunbathe in groupsI don't think
they're too pleased to see me living here, but once when I put out an
old chunk of cheese a few of them crept over balenciaga first and nibbled itThey'll
probably be friends of mine before too longThere's one striped tom
cat in the bunch with half-eaten earsIt's amazing how much he looks
like my old dorm HeadI expect him to start raising the flag any day
now
I'm kind of far from university here, but once I start my third year I
won't have too many morning lectures, so it shouldn't be too badIt
may even be better with the time to read on the trainNow all I have
to do is find some easy work out here that I can do three or four days a
weekThen I can get back to my springwinding life
I don't want to rush, but April is a good time of year to start new
things, and I can't help feeling that the best thing for us would be to
